Four photos purchased in an antique store in Traverse City. Unfortunately, none have names on the back. All are from the McManus Brothers studio, which operated between 1873 and 1917.

She rests her arm on the back of a velvet covered chair with fringes hanging down from the arm rest and seat, I have seen this in other photos. Next to her is a table covered by a rug with two books stacked on it. A rug or linoleum-type floor covering is on the floor.

Three women, two of whom have had their pupils highlighted. My coworker looked at this photo and said, "Creepy."

A trimmed photo with some damage to the hair. The woman has earrings, a broach, and three chains. I wonder if she is one of the Czech immigrants who came to Traverse City.

A trip to Traverse City meant a trip to an antique store in an old barn where I had previously found many photos. This time I only found one with a name on the back. These are two unidentified photos.

The Boswell studio operated from 1894 to 1901. A family group, husband, wife, two daughters, and a young child of unknown sex. The woman is seated in a wicker chair, the man in a wood chair. The painted back drop behind them has a window and curtains. A rug is on the floor.

A young man went to the E. N. Moblo studio between 1890 and 1917 (likely after 1900). He wears a great plaid jacket, a necktie, and a white shirt. His eyes appear to have been retouched.

An Ebay purchase from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Photograph taken at the McManus Brothers Studio, which operated from 1873 to 1917.

On the back in black ink is written "My Mother & Uncle Ed," Unfortunately, not enough information to identify. There were 20 boys named Edward, Edmond, or Edwin.

The boy is sitting on a tricycle. He must have really loved it to have brought it to the studio.

I have a bag of photos pulled from an album. And I cannot remember where I got them. In any case, most are unnamed. There are two exceptions. The first is from the Smith & Price studio of Traverse City, in operation from 1900 to 1925. 

On the back is marked "H. C. Tripp." I wondered if it was a class photo. I remembered that Ancestry has scanned many Traverse City yearbooks (U.S., School Yearbooks, 1900-2016). I searched "Tripp" and there he was, in the 1900, Vice President of the Sophomore class.

Hervey Chester Tripp was born on 11 May 1883 in Big Rapids, Mecosta County, Michigan. He was married in 1914 to Frances Eugene Sparrow. He died on 16 January 1965 in Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon. He is buried in Ocean View Memory Gardens and Crematory in Coos Bay.
